Islamic giving, explained
Every form of Islamic giving has a home at Elsulaimaniya Trust. Give by bank transfer with the reference shown, or online through our general fund with the intention you have made.
Sadaqah Jariyah – ongoing charity
The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught that when a person dies, their deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them. Our clean water and solar energy projects are exactly this kind of gift – they keep giving, year after year, long after the donation is made.

Fidya – for fasts missed with a valid reason
If you cannot fast in Ramadan for a valid reason such as illness, age or pregnancy, and cannot make the fasts up later, fidya is due: feeding one person in need for each missed fast. A commonly used amount in the UK is £5 per missed fast. Through our food programmes, your fidya feeds displaced families in Sudan.

Kaffarah – for a deliberately broken fast
Kaffarah for deliberately breaking a fast without valid reason is fasting 60 consecutive days or, if unable, feeding 60 people in need – commonly £300 per broken fast in the UK. Your kaffarah is used in full to feed those in greatest need.

Interest (Riba) – purify your wealth
If you have received bank interest, you can dispose of it by giving it to relieve poverty. Riba disposal is not Zakat and is not eligible for Gift Aid, but it brings real relief to families in need.
